Inna Kazakova

Inna Kazakova was born in 1969 in Pedrozavodsk, Russia, where she lives and woks today.

I have always wondered why most people want to take a picture against the background of a new place. I don’t think it’s all about wanting to add more pictures to one’s photo album – “I’ve been there and seen how happy I was”. I think it’s rather “trying on” new surroundings, as if we are trying on new clothes of different “styles” and “sizes”, hoping to open something new for ourselves, to find “our own style”. This work can be seen as a speculation on the theme of the relation of a person to his/her actual surrounding. It is also an opportunity for the viewer to experience feelings and moods when juxtaposing “faces” and “backgrounds”.
